Description

Helena Warnecke is the owner of Mt Elmo, a property situated in Collosseum, approximately 360km north of Brisbane, Queensland. The property was previously a residence but is now a dedicated wildlife sanctuary also used to run a small number of cattle. Helena has plans for further conservation but they are not yet concrete as she wishes to sell the property in the future.

The property covers approximately 175.2 hectares of land varying from flats to rolling hills and mountainous areas. Vegetation consists of Eucalypt woodland dominated by spotted gums (Corymbia maculata), swamp mahoganies (Eucalyptus robusta) and grey ironbarks (Eucalyptus paniculata). Paperbarks (Melaleuca spp.), teatrees (Leptospermum spp.) and wattles (Acacia spp.) are also commonly found on the property.

Wildlife known to inhabit the property includes lace monitors (Varanus varius), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus) and a wide variety of birds.
