The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary operated and managed by David Thomson and used for the rehabilitation of native animals including red kangaroos. It is David and the Hermannsburg Aboriginal Charitable Trust’s intent for the property to continue to be used as a safe haven for wildlife.

Ntaria Wildlife Sanctuary covers approximately 2.3 hectares of native bushland consisting predominantly of arid vegetation, including a dedicated area for the rehabilitation of red kangaroos.

Wildlife known to inhabit the sanctuary includes red kangaroos (Macropus rufus), thorny devils (Moloch horridus), western bower birds (Chlamydera guttata), and various species of lizards, skinks and birds.
