A residence and dedicated wildlife sanctuary

Description

Peter and Henriette Ardill are the owners of Warrina, a property located northeast of Gosford, NSW. The property is a residence and dedicated wildlife sanctuary. Peter and Henriette intend to plant native tree species along the creek at the back of their sanctuary, aiming to improve habitat and encourage the further presence of bird life. They hope to assist in keeping their local area a natural habitat for the wildlife which have been part of its history for years, and prevent any further damage to the sensitive rural area’s native fauna and flora species from increasing development.

The sanctuary covers approximately 1 hectare, with primary vegetation types featuring eucalypts, pine trees and various other native tree species, as well as water lilies and marsh type water plants in and alongside the creek that borders the Warrina.

Wildlife species known to be present on the sanctuary include grey teal (Anas gracilis) and Australian wood (Chenonetta jubata) ducks, various other waterfowl, laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae), common brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail possums (Pseudocheirus peregrinus), Australian water dragons (Physignathus lesueurii), and several species of native finches.
