A residence, dedicated wildlife sanctuary and wildlife rehabilitation and release site

Description

Dianna and Warwick Bisset are the owners of Rocklily, a sanctuary located in Wombeyan Caves, approximately 175km southwest of Sydney, NSW. Formerly a sheep farm, Rocklily was logged in the 1870's, and has since been regenerated with native bush to provide habitat for local wildlife. Dianna and Warwick manage a rehabilitation program for wildlife, predominantly wombats, which are soft-released on to the property.

Rocklily consists of 41 hectares of hilly country, of which around one quarter is cleared. The majority of vegetation could best be described as stringy bark forest regrowth and native grassland. The property is located within a locked gate community in the South-West corner of the Blue Mountains National Park. Wildlife present includes brush-tailed rock wallabies (Petrogale penicillata), purple Bathurst butterflies (Paralucia spinifera), koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), swamp (Wallabia bicolor) and red-necked (Macropus rufogriseus) wallabies, eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), gang-gang cockatoos (Callocephalon fimbriatum), spotted quail- thrushes (Cinclosoma punctatum) and many other bird species.
