Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Muses’ Keep

Nicole Cody and William Phillips are the owners of Muses’ Keep, a property located approximately 5km west of Bangalow. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and organic cattle and heritage organic citrus farm, and it is Nicole and Williams’s intention to continue these uses while increasing biodiversity and improving soil health, implementing native revegetation programs and weed eradication, and protect existing habitat for native species.

The sanctuary covers 20 hectares with river and creek frontage, was formerly a dairy property and prior to that cedar and rainforest timbered bushland. Vegetation types include remnant vine and rainforest scrub, and wildlife corridors intersperse cleared paddocks.

Wildlife species known to occur on the sanctuary include koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), lace monitors (Varanus varius), whiptail (Macropus parryi) and red-necked (Macropus rufogriseus) wallabies, pademelons, microbats, snakes, lizards and frogs, wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), powerful owls (Ninox strenua), tawny frogmouths (Podargus strigoides), and numerous other bird species.
