Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Kyirrie

Lynette Day and Keith Boundy are the owners of Kyirrie (Milky Way), a property located approximately 15km south of Nowra. The property is a residence and wildlife-friendly sanctuary, and it is Lynette and Keith’s intent for Kyirrie to remain for these purposes while improving wildlife habitat by allowing formerly cleared paddocks to regenerate.

The property covers 2.02 hectares with vegetation species occurring including lilly pilly (Syzygium smithii) and various Eucalyptus, Acacia, Westringia and Callistemon species.

Wildlife species known to inhabit the sanctuary include eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), yellow-tailed black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus), brushtail possums (Trichosurus vulpecula), dusky antechinus (Antechinus swainsonii), feathertail gliders (Acrobates pygmaeus) blue-tongued lizards (Tiliqua spp.), lace monitors (Varanus varius), native ducks, diamond pythons (Morelia spilota), rainbow lorikeets (Trichoglossus moluccanus), tawny frogmouths (Podargus strigoides), satin bower birds (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus), crimson rosellas (Platycercus elegans), king parrots (Alisterus scapularis), and various other parrots. The mob of eastern grey kangaroos that call Kyirrie home have done so for many generations.
