Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Flanagan’s Ridge

Alan Flanagan is the owner of Flanagan’s Ridge, a property located in Gunnedah, approximately 90km West of Tamworth. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary which has previously been used for grazing cattle, however stock has not been run on it for some time. It is Alan’s intent to increase the number of koala food trees on Flanagan’s Ridge in an attempt to provide for existing populations nearby.

The sanctuary covers approximately 40.5 hectares, with predominant tree species including grey box and cypress pine among other native vegetation types.  The property features many trees, a gradual slope and small butte. Wildlife species present on Flanagan’s Ridge include eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus) and red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus).
