Description

Jacqueline and Gary Hunt are the owners of a property located approximately 10km west of Wyong. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary with a small portion cleared for a residence. It is Jacqueline and Gary's intent to continue to utilise the property for conservation purposes, including the rehabilitation of wildlife.

The sanctuary covers approximately 20.2 hectares of native bushland providing an assortment of habitats for local wildlife from the valley floor up to the ridgeline. Vegetation types include eucalypt woodlands, sclerophyll forest, rainforest gullies and improved pasture.

Wildlife species known to inhabit the property include red-necked (Macropus rufogriseus) and swamp (Wallabia bicolor) wallabies, bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, sugar gliders (Petaurus breviceps) and southern angle-headed dragons (Lophosaurus spinipes). The property also features a variety of birdlife including superb lyrebirds (Menura novaehollandiae), wonga pigeons (Leucosarcia melanoleuca), satin bowerbirds (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus) and bassian thrushes (Zoothera lunulata), and a variety of frogs including the Southern barred frog (Mixophyes iterates).
