Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / The Land

Mark and Michelle Johnston are the owners of The Land, a property located approximately 20km south-west of Forster. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and it is Mark and Michelle’s intent to continue to utilise the property for conservation purposes.

The Land covers 10.33 hectares of native bushland located on a ridge running down to the back boundary which adjoins Wallingat National Park. Vegetation consists predominantly of eucalypt woodlands characteristic of the mid-north coast of New South Wales.

Wildlife species known to inhabit the sanctuary include short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), lace monitors (Varanus varius), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) and koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus).
