Scott Morris and Paula Sharkey are the owners of a property located approximately 130km north of Port Stephens. The property is a residence and wildlife-friendly sanctuary and is used for recreation. It is Scott and Paula’s intent to continue to maintain the native vegetation in order to encourage conservation for wildlife within the area. The property is protected under a Hunter Catchment Management Authority PVP for the next ten years.
The sanctuary covers approximately 204 hectares and is part of the key catchment for the Myall River. The land consists of dry forest, including grey gum (Eucalyptus punctata) and tallowood (Eucalyptus microcorys) forest. Wildlife species known to inhabit the property include koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), lace monitors (Varanus varius), red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), dingoes (Canis dingo), tiger quolls (Dasyurus maculatus), water dragons (Intellagama lesueurii), long-nosed bandicoots (Perameles nasuta), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), gang-gang cockatoos (Callocephalon fimbriatum), and a range of native birds and reptiles.
