A family residence and wildlife-friendly sanctuary

Rebecca and Danielle Mulholland are the owners of a property located approximately 25km north of Kyogle. The family property is a wildlife-friendly sanctuary featuring three residences, and it is Rebecca and Danielle's intent to assist natural revegetation on the ex-grazing land to better support the needs of native wildlife species. Rebecca and Danielle aim to live on the property self-sufficiently using permaculture principles.

The property covers 40.34 hectares of ex-grazing farmland, with vegetation types being a combination of sclerophyll forest, subtropical rainforest, and pasture. Two creeks provide a year-round source of water for wildlife species.

Wildlife species known to inhabit the sanctuary include swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), long-nosed bandicoots (Perameles nasuta), red-necked pademelons (Thylogale thetis), lace monitors (Varanus varius), red (Calyptorhynchus banksii) and yellow-tailed (Calyptorhynchus funereus) black cockatoos and a wide variety of native birdlife, as well as various snake, frog, freshwater turtle and crayfish species.
