Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / La Source

Anthony Muscio is the owner of La Source, a property located approximately 25km north of Braidwood.  The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary undergoing bush regeneration, and is used for environmental education.  Anthony has a number of intentions for the future of La Source, with a co-operative research centre, sustainability projects, wildlife rehabilitation and eco-tourism ventures planned to operate alongside the current uses.  He aims to build a sophisticated relationship between the property and other organisations for the development of sustainable practices.

The sanctuary covers 40.1 partially wooded hectares, the majority of which were formerly pasture now undergoing extensive regeneration.  La Source features extensive views along a ridge with small valleys and up to 50 metre undulations at an altitude of approximately 600 metres.  Predominant vegetation types include a variety of grasses, herbs and forbes, banksia (Banksia spp.), wattle (Acacia spp.) and eucalypt (Eucalyptus spp.) trees, and coastal tea tree (Leptospermum laevigatum).

Wildlife is abundant on the sanctuary, with a wide range of birds being present alongside bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) and swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor).
