Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Naganaga Vihara

Satyagandhi, Megha, Viryadana and Akasamati are residents of Naganaga Vihara, a property located approximately 85km Northwest of Port Macquarie that is owned by Friends of the Western Buddhist Order Toorooka Inc. The property’s primary uses are as a home and residential Buddhist community; for the rehabilitation and care of orphaned wallabies; and for Buddhist meditation retreats. As members of FAWNA, it is Satyagandhi, Megha, Viryadana and Akasamati’s intention to continue the safe rehabilitation of macropods for release, while continuing conservation related activities on Naganaga Vihara including weed removal and planting native and indigenous species.

The sanctuary covers approximately 66.7 hectares comprised almost entirely of bushland (predominantly dry sclerophyll), with a ridge running down to Macleay River. Naganaga Vihara also features pockets of rainforest, cycads and grass trees (Xanthorrhoea spp.).
