Warren and Kathryn Whiting are the owners of a property located approximately 20km southwest of Cessnock. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary used for recreation, and was purchased for the preservation and enjoyment of the native vegetation and wildlife present. It is Warren and Kathryn’s intent for the sanctuary to remain for these purposes.
The sanctuary covers 73.35 hectares of predominantly uncleared rural land featuring mountain ridges, gullies, and large rock formations. The dominant vegetation type on the property is native bushland.
Known wildlife inhabitants of Warren and Kathryn’s sanctuary include bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), wallaroos (Macropus robustus), brush-tailed rock wallabies (Petrogale penicillata), brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, native mice, and a wide range of bird life including yellow-tailed black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus).
