A dedicated wildlife sanctuary used for wildlife rehabilitation and education

Description

The Kangaroo Protection Co-Operative is an organisation and property located approximately 35km northwest of the Sydney CBD. The property is fully cyclone fenced for the rehabilitation of macropods and other wildlife, and features two small cottages – one for a caretaker and the other being an educational facility. The property was granted to the founder of the organisation by the NSW Government in the late 1970s, and adjoins the Berowra Regional Park.

The sanctuary covers 20 hectares, with remnant vegetation predominantly comprised of dry sclerophyll forest. Wildlife species known to occur on the sanctuary include glossy black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus lathami), brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, red-crowned toadlets (Pseudophryne australis), pythons, and various macropod species in care at any point in time.
