Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Woodgreen

Dr Richard Krochmalik and Dr Andrea Harvey are the owners of Woodgreen, a property situated in Wombeyan Caves, approximately 90km west of Wollongong, NSW. The property is a residence and hobby farm, supporting livestock such as goats, sheep, horses and alpacas. Richard and Andrea intend to maintain the property for these purposes whilst preserving the existing habitat for local native species.

Woodgreen neighbours existing WLT sanctuary Balashiha and covers approximately 121.4 hectares of marginal grazing country. The property is partially cleared but supports several wildlife corridors and habitat islands, and is situated close to Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve. Vegetation largely consists of eucalypt woodland and native pasture species.

A range of wildlife is found on the property including eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), wallaroos (Macropus robustus) and bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus). Birdlife is also abundant and includes eastern (Platycercus eximius) and crimson (Platycercus elegans) rosellas, satin bowerbirds (Ptilonorhynchus violaceus), magpies (Cracticus tibicen), white-winged choughs (Corcorax melanorhamphos), gang-gang (Callocephalon fimbriatum) and glossy black (Calyptorhynchus lathami) cockatoos, sulphur-crested cockatoos (Cacatua galerita), wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax) and kites.
