A residence and recreational area as well as a dedicated wildlife sanctuary

Description

Adam Blakester is the owner of Tumblegum, a property situated in Invergowrie, approximately 100km northeast of Tamworth, New South Wales. The property is a residence and recreational area as well as a dedicated wildlife sanctuary, and Adam is actively regenerating the woodland and wetland habitats onsite. The property is additionally registered with Land for Wildlife and is protected by a covenant to preserve the “quiet rural character” of the area. Adam intends to continue regenerating the area and has plans to sell the property in the near future.

The property covers approximately 3 hectares and is situated on New England High Country approximately 1,000m above sea level. The property is comprised of regenerating scrubby grassy box woodland and wetland (currently impacted by the drought). Around 8-12 native tree species are present and high-quality ground cover across the property provides habitat for wildlife.

A range of wildlife is present on Tumblegum including koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), eastern brown (Pseudonaja textilis) and red-bellied black (Pseudechis porphyriacus) snakes, microbats, turtles, fish and frogs. An abundance of birdlife is also present including various raptors and ducks.
