Jamie Bell is the owner of Guran, a property located approximately 55km southeast of Gympie. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary which is also used for craft and art production and registered with the Land for Wildlife program. It is Jamie’s intent to continue with the sanctuary’s current purpose.
The property covers 4 heavily timbered hectares of approximately 30 year old eucalypt growth, featuring a few dozen large (old growth) eucalypts. Dominant vegetation species include a variety of eucalypts (bloodwood, ironbark, stringybark, blue gum, grey gum), acacias, banksias and grass trees, as well as many other native shrubs and grasses endemic to the local area.
Examples of wildlife species known to occur on the property include eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), lace monitors (Varanus varius), ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) and brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) possums, sugar gliders (Petaurus breviceps), and a wide range of other native mammals, reptiles and bird species.
