Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / Ifdawn

Susan and Geoff Brazier are the owners of Ifdawn, a property located approximately 20km north of Cairns. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and residence, and it is Susan and Geoff’s intent for it to remain as such.

The sanctuary covers 0.94 hectares with the dominant vegetation types being natural bushland and tropical rainforest.  A seasonal creek borders one side of the property and a large range of eucalypt species, tropical trees, vines and creepers are present.

Examples of wildlife species known to be found on Ifdawn include agile wallabies (Macropus agilis), monitor lizards (Varanus spp.), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), melomys (Melomys spp.), striped possums (Dactylopsila trivirgata), northern brown bandicoots (Isoodon macrourus), green tree frogs (Litoria caerulea) and a variety of lizards, tree snakes, pythons, flying foxes, microbats, birds and butterflies – including Ulysses (Papilio ulysses) and Cairns birdwing (Ornithoptera euphorion) butterflies.
