Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / Pat and Andy’s Refuge

Pat Campbell and Andy Cowan are the owners of a property located approximately 7km south of Mossman, Queensland. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and it is Pat and Andy’s intent for it to continue to be used for this purpose. Pat and Andy also plan to regenerate existing cleared areas (approximately 0.4 hectares in size) to support local wildlife.

The sanctuary covers 9.71 hectares of mostly primary growth forest consisting of a mix of dry eucalypt forest and tropical rainforest along a ridge. The property backs on to a large State Forest, connecting low elevation up to the dividing range of Julatten.

Wildlife known to inhabit the sanctuary includes striped possums (Dactylopsila trivirgata), southern cassowaries (Casuarius casuarius), and swamp (Wallabia bicolor) and agile (Macropus agilis) wallabies.
