Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / Lyn and Cliff’s Refuge

Lyn and Cliff Willett are the owners of a property located approximately 35km northwest of Noosa Heads. The property is a residence and former sub-divided dairy farm which is now undergoing land rehabilitation and revegetation. Lyn and Cliff have developed a safe wildlife corridor and it is their intention for the sanctuary to continue to be a wildlife friendly property. The property is additionally registered with the Land for Wildlife program.

The property covers 2.9 hectares of cleared farmland with remnant rainforest. Ongoing restoration works including land rehabilitation, the planting of native vegetation, and weed management are occurring on the property, and a small creek running through provides a good water source for the local wildlife.

Wildlife species known to inhabit the sanctuary include eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), brush tail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, dingoes (Canis dingo), northern brown bandicoots (Isoodon macrourus) and a range of antechinus species. Over 50 species of birds and several species of reptiles, butterflies and native bees have also been recorded on the property.
