Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / SA / Shelly Beach Lodge

Donna Hampel and Rod Clark are the owners of Shelly Beach Lodge, a property located in Mount Dutton Bay, approximately 45km northwest of Port Lincoln, South Australia. The property is a residence also used as a holiday accommodation, camping site and olive grove. Donna and Rod have owned the property for 25 years, and in this time have worked to regenerate the native woodland whilst protecting existing habitat by excluding livestock and managing feral cat populations.  Donna and Rod intend to continue utilizing the property for its current purposes whilst restoring the native vegetation back to its original state.

The property covers approximately 40.47 hectares of gently sloping woodland and grassland along the coastline. Vegetation is dominated by South Australian coastal mallee (Eucalyptus diversifolia) interspersed with she-oak (Allocasuarina verticillata) woodland.

Wildlife found on the property includes eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), emus (Dromaius novaehollandiae), lace monitors (Varanus varius) and various snakes.
