Description

Ro London is the owner of Londolozi Lodge, a property situated in McCracken on the Fleurieu Peninsula, approximately 80km south of Adelaide, South Australia. The property is a residence and pet-friendly bed and breakfast as well as a dedicated sanctuary for wildlife, particularly native birds. Ro intends to continue improving roosting habitats for birds whilst maintaining the bed and breakfast.  

The property covers approximately 0.12 hectares on McCracken Golf Course and borders Wattle Reserve on one side. Vegetation primarily consists of various eucalypts, golden wattles (Acacia pycnantha), cypress pines (Callitris spp.), silver banksia (Banksia marginata) and blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon).

A variety of wildlife is found on the property including eastern blue-tongued lizards (Tiliqua scincoides scincoides), Southern bush rats (Rattus fuscipes) and non-native Portugese millipedes (Ommatoiulus moreletii). A vast array of birdlife is also present including New Holland honeyeaters (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae), white-backed magpies (Cracticus tibicen tyrannical), bronzewing (Phaps chalcoptera) and crested (Ocyphaps lophotes) pigeons, European turtle doves (Streptopelia turtur), little ravens (Corvus mellori), pied currawongs (Strepera graculina), magpie larks (Grallina cyanoleuca), plovers, red wattlebirds (Anthochaera carunculata), willie-wagtails (Rhipidura leucophrys), noisy miners (Manorina melanocephala), superb fairy-wrens (Malurus cyaneus) and welcome swallows (Hirundo neoxena). A range of parrots are also found on the property including galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla), sulphur-crested cockatoos (Cacatua galerita), little corellas (Cacatua sanguinea), rosellas (Platycercus eximus), rainbow (Trichoglossus moluccanus), musk (Glossopsitta concinna) and purple-crowned lorikeets (Glossopsitta porphyrocephala) and yellow-tailed black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus).

Nearby watercourses also provide habitat for black swans (Cygnus atratus), sacred kingfishers (Todiramphus sanctus), wood (Chenonetta jubata) and Pacific black ducks (Anas superciliosa), Eurasian coots (Fulica atra), dusky moorhens (Gallinula tenebrosa), white (Threskiornis moluccus) and straw-necked (Threskiornis spinicollis) ibis, royal (Platalea regia) and yellow-billed (Platalea flavipes) spoonbills.
