Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / TAS / Lyn and Geoff’s Refuge

Lyn and Geoff Murray own a 4.05 hectare sanctuary situated in Lachlan, approximately 25km west of Hobart, Tasmania. Consisting almost entirely of bushland, the property is comprised of lightly wooded dry sclerophyll, with common heath and other eucalypt species. A small pond also provides water for wildlife. The massive area protected by the Southwest National Park and the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park lies approximately 50km away from Lyn and Geoff’s pristine sanctuary.

The sanctuary provides habitat for many species including short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), Bennett’s wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) and brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) possums, bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus tasmaniensis), tawny frogmouths (Podargus strigoides), potoroos, superb fairy wrens (Malurus cyaneus), scarlet robins (Petroica boodang) and rosellas.
