A residence, farm animal rescue and wildlife-friendly sanctuary

Description

Tamara, Amanda, James and Verlie Kenneally are the owners of Lefty’s Place, a property situated in Lancefield, approximately 70km north of Melbourne, Victoria. The property is a residence and sanctuary for rescued farm animals and the owners intend to maintain it for these purposes, with plans to make the area more inviting and safe for local wildlife as well.

The property is situated on a hill and covers approximately 8.5 hectares. The front paddock features a large dam which is fed by two smaller dams. Vegetation is characterized by small stands of eucalypt and wattle as well as introduced pines and silver birch (Betula pendula) on native grassland.

Wildlife present includes eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) and an abundance of birdlife including native owls. The dam provides habitat for a range of resident and migratory species including white ibises (Threskiornis molucca), spoonbills (Platalea spp.), black swans (Cygnus atratus) and many more.
