Robert and Sarah Cass are the owners of Jacaranda Hill Farm, a property located approximately 10km north east of Pinjarra. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and a residence. It is Robert and Sarah’s intent to rehabilitate the land for the benefit of the local environment and, in future, to offer small-scale wildlife-friendly accommodation.
Jacaranda Hill Farm covers 43 hectares of former pastureland backing on to pristine native bushland. Cleared pastureland moves up the Darling Range into eucalypt woodlands dominated by red gums (Eucalyptus calophylla) and karri trees (Eucalyptus diversicolor). Vegetation profiles identified on the property include Forestdale, in the lower section, and Darling Range in the upper section of the property.
Wildlife known to inhabit the sanctuary include western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus), red-tailed (Calyptorhynchus banksii) and Carnaby’s (C. latirostris) black-cockatoos, western blue-tongued lizards (Tiliqua occipitalis) and native ducks.
