Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / WA / Luton Nature Sanctuary

Tony and Lucy Schaafsma are the owners of Luton Nature Sanctuary, a property located approximately 110km northeast of Perth. The property is a dedicated wildlife-friendly sanctuary, and it is Tony and Lucy’s intent to continue to utilise Luton Nature Sanctuary for the protection of local wildlife populations, particularly kangaroos. The property features a modest living shed for Tony and Lucy’s weekend accommodation.

Luton Nature Sanctuary covers approximately 8.9 hectares on an open natural hill site, and features trees and grazing land. The property is not fenced on its northern boundary to allow the free passage of wildlife, mainly kangaroos.  Wildlife species known to inhabit the sanctuary include western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus) and a variety of snake, lizard and bird species known to occur in the area.
