Description

Paula Bologa and Guy Buckett are the owners of Firetail Farm, a property situated in Kordabup, approximately 20km northwest of Denmark, Western Australia. The property is a residence and wildlife-friendly sanctuary that also supports a small permaculture farm. Paula and Guy intend to maintain the property for these purposes, with future plans to develop an eco-tourism business for camping and short-term stays.

The property covers approximately 39.66 hectares of predominately uncleared Karri forest and features a large spring-fed dam. A small house and permaculture food forest is also present. Set within a cool temperate rainforest, native vegetation includes karri (Eucalyptus diversicolor), marri (Corymbia calophylla), jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata), she-oak (Casuarina spp.), karri wattle (Acacia pentadenia), native teatree (Leptospermum spp.), Blackbutt (Eucalyptus pilularis), various native wildflowers and an abundance of fungi.

Wildlife known to inhabit the property include a variety of marsupials including western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus), microbats, frogs, laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae), red-eared firetails (Stagonopleura oculata), southern boobooks (Ninox boobook), splendid fairy-wrens (Malurus splendens), honeyeaters and various birds of prey.
