The Australian Wildlife Land Trust has officially become an affiliate of the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative in a move that recognises the important contribution many of our sanctuary owners make to this exciting project.  The large majority of WLT members located in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales lie within the bounds of the Great Eastern Ranges and account for approximately 13,000 hectares of privately owned land within the conservation corridor.  Many of the Threatened Ecological Communities nominated by HSI/WLT also contribute to the protection of habitat throughout the GER.

"The Great Eastern Ranges Initiative aims to maintain and improve long-term connectivity conservation of mountain ecosystems running the length of eastern Australia.  Drawing together the efforts of the various community, industry, government and non-government groups already working in the area, the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative will strengthen the resilience of natural ecosystems and the native plant and animal species they support, in the face of climate change and other ecological threats." -
