This April we welcomed six new members to the Wildlife Land Trust, contributing 224 hectares of conservation-friendly land to our network.

With these new additions we’ve reached 600 sanctuaries across Australia, a fantastic milestone for the WLT! Taking us over the line is Queensland sanctuary Melomy Creek, a dense eucalypt and teatree woodland populated by swamp wallabies, grassland melomys, rakali and around 50 different bird species.

Conservation news

The Australian federal election is coming up soon, and it’s your chance to vote for stronger nature laws, better animal welfare outcomes and improved protection for our wildlife and habitats. Now is a great time to brush up on your knowledge of the major parties' nature policies – you can also advocate for better nature laws directly to major parties here.

Threatened Species Art Competition

We’re excited to announce the upcoming Threatened Species Children’s Art Competition, which will be coordinated by Humane Society International this year. All children 5-12 years in NSW, ACT and VIC are invited to participate, with special prizes and a feature in an exhibition for the best entries! We’re hoping to raise awareness about the plight of native species whilst giving children a platform to share their views with a wide audience. Visit for more information.
