NSW: Dog Leg Farm - Angela Hunter and Jake Annetts

Angela Hunter and Jake Annetts are the owners of Dog Leg Farm, a property located in Bombay, approximately 50km east of Queanbeyan, New South Wales. The property is a residence and small hobby farm, as well as a dedicated wildlife sanctuary. Angela and Jake intend to continue regenerating the arable land surrounding the homestead using holistic farming techniques whilst conserving the existing bushland on the property. They also hope to use the property to educate others on land rehabilitation in the future.

Dog Leg Farm covers approximately 11 hectares and is situated on scrubby heathland approximately 700 metres above sea level. The property features several ridges with a chain-of-ponds running between them. The property has been degraded by the previous owners but is currently undergoing restoration through Natural Sequence Farming and Permaculture techniques.

Vegetation species found on the property include various eucalypts, paperbarks (Melaleuca spp.), banksias, hakeas, tea trees (Leptospermum spp.), kunzea and native grasses.

Wildlife known to inhabit the property includes eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus) and a variety of reptiles. The property also features a variety of birds including powerful owls (Ninox strenua) and wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax).
