Tracey Davis and Todd Farrawell are the owners of a property situated in Turill, approximately 60km north of Mudgee, New South Wales. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary. Tracey and Todd plan to build an off-grid residence on the land, while converting a small cabin into an eco-friendly tourist accommodation. They wish to improve the property’s natural values by adopting regenerative and permaculture methods suitable for small farms, with the aim of establishing a sustainable, self-sufficient dwelling on the block.
The property spans 43 hectares across gently undulating hills, with a large dam and frontage to Murrumbline Creek. The land consists of some cleared paddocks, with the rest of the property heavily forested. Vegetation is comprised of native grasslands and eucalypt woodland, predominantly featuring red ironbark (Eucalyptus sideroxylon) and stringybark.
A range of wildlife is present including red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus) and lace monitors (Varanus varius). An abundance of birdlife is also present including laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae).
