Charlie and Janet Hindle are the owners of Tranquil Park, a property situated in Bridges, approximately 25km northwest of Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The property is a recently purchased residential property, and it is the owners’ intention to restore the existing habitat through revegetation and weed control, beginning with the remnant rainforest along the property’s creek.
The property spans 4.69 hectares across a historical farming property featuring several open paddocks interspersed with isolated patches of remnant vegetation. The top of the property is populated by remnant eucalypt woodland, while the bottom is characterized by subtropical rainforest and features a creek. The owners plan to revegetate the cleared areas of the property to connect these remnant patches of habitat.
Wildlife is abundant and features eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, water dragons (Intellagama lesueurii), snakes and a wide variety of native frogs. A recent biological survey suggests that platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), northern brown bandicoots (Isoodon macrourus) and several species of microbats may also be present.
An array of birdlife is also present including laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae), red-tailed (Calyptorhynchus banksia) and yellow-tailed (Calyptorhynchus funereus) black cockatoos, kingfishers, willie wagtails (Rhipidura leucophrys), white ibises (Threskiornis molucca), galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla), dusky moorhens (Gallinula tenebrosa), rosellas (Platycercus spp.), hawks, moorhens, ducks, owls, butcher birds and egrets.
